Bits of information for using the MUSC Shared Resource,
the BioMolecular Computing Resource (BCR).

Exon_40 Running the MACSPARTAN and SPARTAN programs at MUSC.
SPARTAN is a computational chemistry tool.

MACSPARTAN is available only on the
BCR G3

SPARTAN is available ONLY from
 photon.musc.edu.
The license allows one user at the workstation and one remote login.
Remote users must be using x-server software such as
eXceed or eXodus to remotely access SPARTAN.

When logged on to photon, type

spartan

to launch the GUI interface window. Use of SPARTAN is regarded
as "intuitive". That is, they supply almost no documetation.
SPARTAN can read SYBYL mol2 format files. SPARTAN has a robust
molecular editor/builder.

The current version of SPARTAN is the 2002 release.
