Exons: Bits of information for using the MUSC Shared Resource, the BioMolecular Computing Resource (BCR). Exon_51 Running Viseur to make 2D plots and track mutations at MUSC.MUSC users with access to Xserver software on their PC/MACs may configure their MUSC network accounts to run Fabien Campagne's VISEUR program. STANDARD telnet connections to teh BCR machines will not allow access to VIsuer. You must use Xserver software such as MIx, MAC-X, eXceed or eXodus. Viseur reads sequence information (eg SwissProt FT lines) and feature tables to assign transmembrane regions within the sequence. The program will then produce a POSTSCRIPT output file which may be edited or printed. Users will have to perfrom two tasks: 1) Copy the following file into a file called ".viseurrc" in the root level of your homeroom directry __________________Cut between these lines and paste into .viseurrc___________ 1 3 136 139 149 2 1 918 5 3 28 28 28 6 2 -adobe-courier-bold-r-normal--17-100-100-100-m-90-iso8859-1 8 2 -adobe-courier-bold-r-normal--25-180-100-100-m-150-iso8859-1 9 3 0 0 0 10 3 255 255 255 13 2 /usr/common/bcr/Viseur/usr/share/Viseur 16 3 255 127 127 17 3 116 255 75 18 3 114 236 255 19 3 89 127 104 20 3 200 200 200 21 4 1 33 4 1 ___________________Cut between these lines and paste into .viseurrc _________ 2)Modify your existing ".login" file by adding the following line: set path = ($path /usr/common/bcr/Viseur/usr/share/Viseur/Executables ) After adding the line to ".login"and creating ".viseurrc", Logout and login again. At that point typing "viseur" will launch the program. The manual and a brief tutorial are available within.
